According to a recent study, the sensitivity in the skin is not reduced in later life if the foreskin of a new born baby boy is removed.
According to this research, penile sensitivity doesn’t change with age for circumcised men or men with unaffected skin. Apart from that, this study also refutes previous studies which suggest that foreskin is the most sensitive and most sexually applicable part of the penis.
Public interest in this matter rose when Canadian Pediatric Society and American Academy of Pediatrics changed their views about circumcision of children.
The Americans advocate routine circumcision of new born baby boys for guaranteed protection against sexually transmitted diseases but it is not the policy of Canadian experts while this is not based on the effect of circumcision on penile sensitivity. Jennifer Bossio from the Queen’s University told that they thoroughly tested the effect of circumcision on reduction of penile sensitivity by engaging the healthy groups of both circumcised and intact men.
She said that they concluded from the study that penile sensitivity is not associated with neonatal circumcision which proves that foreskin should not be regarded as the most sensitive part of penis. Ms Bossio added that if there is any problem in sexual function that it is not due to decreased penile sensitivity by neonatal circumcision.
