The two times gourmand award winner Sayeeda Leghari, Pakistan’s leading independent publishing house, marking publishing launched the Pakistan heritage cuisine, a food story at the Indus valley school of art and architecture in Karachi.

Pakistan heritage cuisine the food story includes how the cuisine of a country is woven into its fabric and changed the shape by the history and the characteristics of the people and the region. The tradition and culture of the subcontinent overlaps, which is the shared history region. In this book Leghari has tried to give the readers insight into the journey of Pakistan cuisine, its simplicity and grandeur, its finesse as well as ruggedness and the historical influences that shaped it.

This is the first book of Leghari as an author. Leghari wants to give back to Pakistan and her love for the national food that made her to introduce the country rich’s to the world, diverse culture from the food and the pride that she takes in her heritage. Leghari has traced back to the origin and myths attached to the dishes enjoyed by most Pakistanis. Hoping that the insight will be enjoyed by the reader as well. All the proceeds from the book sale will be donated to the child aid association in Pakistan.

I have decided to document Pakistan through a book in which the rich heritage and culture will be shown to highlight the flavors and taste that keep us united. Despite the notion that Pakistanis could differ on opinion on all the topics, but when it comes to our culture and food we stand united. However the geographical boundaries have divided the subcontinent into separate countries, but we will still remain tied by our heritage, food and culture, Sayeeda said.

The starting of the event was made by an introduction on the evening by tuba arshad at markings, where then she invited the art curator sameera raja on the stage who moderated a panel discussion featuring the author Sayeeda Leghari, who told about her journey and efforts in writing the book; former Pakistan ambassador to the united nation and sindh assembly speaker, a businessman and social activist Hussain Haroon, who spoke about the Pakistani culinary heritage; renowned art critic, author, curator and painter Marjorie Husain, who spoke about food as culinary art; food connoisseur malaika Sayeeda, who spoke about family favourites and community cuisines and the president child aid association, dr nizam ul Hassan who spoke about his organization and the royalties being donated by the Leghari from the book sales. Rasikh Ismail at koel café restaurant made customized hors d’oeurves giving the audience a taste of Pakistani heritage cuisines. Sara chapra managed the event at carbon with the public relations by lotus.
