How do you feel about UTV Stars?
I think it’s great. I think we’re a lot closer to the people. Our lives are not really that exceptional, so half the things we tell the press are made. I think people will know about our boring lives. I think they know better.

Do you think there will be privacy issues?
Well, our media still has a lot of respect for privacy and a great code of ethics is still present. Compared to the West we have a lot more privacy. So I do not think there will be such a problem.

Recently, you are part of BHEJA FRY 2 and the film does not do so well at the box office. Why do you think it was?
Why do you say? The film made money and the producer is currently malamal. He has yet to take me out to dinner as a treat.

Even what was the problem with the film? It does not attract a cult following as BHEJA FRY.
I think we are used to a lot of cult movies now and then BHEJA FRY came it was a comedy and everyone was amazed by how he was shot in one room. Today for a film a cult film that you need to be more than a comedy to be. It must be a film that addresses the company. It should be a film that dealt with very serious matters, but how the shot should be a cult movie. It is very difficult for comedies to cult movies.

Tell us about your upcoming movies.
There is a movie called Hum Tum Shabana. The comedy is directed by Mr. Sagar Ballary. There’s another film called JOKER and then there ZILLA Ghaziabad. HUM TUM Shabana will release in September and the other two will next year release.

Tell us about your experience at Cannes Film Festival. How was it?
It was beautiful and I think that in the West, they really have been caught on the red carpet thing and they know how to do well there. So the experience of the original location of Cannes, which is the largest festival in the world, was great. But I would add that in India the red carpet premiere very well. The only difference is that our journalists do not wear tuxedos behind the line is homogeneous.

Personally, what genre of movie you want?
I like dramas and thrillers.

And what about drivers? Who are your favorite directors?
Michael Bay is one of my favorite directors. Tony Scott is another director I love, and Steven Soderbergh also.

What are the drivers in India with whom you would like to work?
I would like to work with many newcomers. I would also like to Dibakar Banerjee and Rajkumar (Gupta).

Is it true that you really wanted to be a journalist?
Yaa .. that’s very true. In fact, I wanted a war journalist. I wanted to go away to places like Bosnia and Chechnya and Israel. Acting is something that was not planned. It really happened like an accident. But my parents are more than happy to film, so I would not go to a corner and happened to be bombed.

So what do you feel about coming to Kolkata?
I love Kolkata. I love coming back here. I love the place, the people, the food and the architecture. I love the old world feel of the city. I also like the Bengali language as it is very sweet.

So no plans for a Bengali film?
I would first five years to learn the language. But then maybe ever. Although I have watched films of Bengali Rituparno Ghosh.
