What do you have for a continuation of the murder?
Murder was one of my bona fide hit movies. It was a bold film with a very distinct components-sensuality, eroticism, murder mystery, which was very shocking to the public and critics at the time. But it was one of the biggest hits of 2004. We thought of taking the theme-driven franchise forward. However, murder is not a sequel to two murders, but it belongs to a series of films. It’s a new story with new characters. It is based on the relationship of the friends of the benefits. These two characters, Priya and Arjun (Emraan and Jackie) are in a non-permanent relationship, which unapologetic about the intimacy between them.

Which one do you better MURDER  or MURDER two?
I think MURDER 2 much, much better in many ways to kill … it’s more exciting, more unpredictable, more sensual, more fat. We worked harder on the script, because today we have really smart audience that just a few scenes to know in which direction to go and what the film will be the climax. So we made this movie keeps you on your toes and keep you guessing at intervals and pre-climax points. There’s lover in my character that I played so far.

How was it working with Jacqueline?
You can not work on chemistry. As actors you work hard on your part, but not chemistry with your co-actor. But going by the feedback of the audience when they saw the promo’s song, it seems they like Jacqueline and my chemistry a lot. She has a very, very good job in the film.

Why is a memorable film MURDER 2 for you?
The film will be a truly memorable for me. One reason is Mohit (Suri, director) in general makes us work 12 hours a day. But for this film, he made us 17 to 18 hours a day in Goa. (Smiles)

You have always gone to gray characters …
I’ve never played a chocolate hero, but a dark hero. In MURDER 2 there are also shades of gray in my character. Now-a-days the line between hero and villain has been erased in our Hindi films. Today, a villain’s position is no longer one-dimensional, people understand it.

Do you feel bad with the serial kisser tag?
I do not feel bad. It’s just I’m tired of being called a serial kisser. I hope the media finds something beautiful and more innovative, or do not call me anything. I will be happy.

Ever tried to break out of it?
After the murder, was my image (as serial kisser) set. If I could be anything else, my career would have taken a different path. But MURDER was my first bona fide hit, it affected my career too much this time. The film was powerful and sensual, so people do not notice other things. It rubs somewhere and you get the same kind of films that are a forte of you as an actor. But time after time, I consciously tried to break out of that image and to do different roles, at the same time keeping this (picture) as a strong point in my career.
